You Know — and You Can.

For a long time i was convinced that i — and every other human — have an essence that makes us who we are. I imagined it like a pearl, pure and indestructible. But when i peeled back the layers of me — the ego, the self and so on — there was no essence. To the contrary. I melted into the world.

For a long time i was convinced that there was a higher purpose in being — in being a human, in being alive. Something that gives meaning to it all, guidance, something to hold on to. No matter where i look or who i ask, it isn’t given nor found.

For a long time i worked hard on creating an essence for myself to fill the void of the non-existence of my essence. And when i was done i found it in every human i met. I find it in you, you and in you.

For a long time i constructed meaning and purpose to guide me. Something to aspire to, a compass for my every action. And when i was done i found it in every human i met. I find it in you, you and in you.

You know. It cannot be given and it cannot be taken. It is in you and me and everyone else. You are unique and you are me. At the same time.

You can. You can live like you know you must live. Like you know we all must live.
